Demolition is underway in Chicago’s River West neighborhood for the [https://bohocasino1.ca](https://bohocasino1.ca/) upcoming Bally’s casino, NBC Chicago’s Charlie Wojciechowski reports. Bally's Chicago will be a $1.7 million casino complex on the Chicago River. Construction will begin in 2024 and completed in 2026. The 168,000 square-foot casino will be the largest in Chicago and feature 3,400 slot machines,173 table games, six restaurants, 3,000-seat theater, and a 500-room hotel. With new construction permits filed, the project is moving closer to becoming reality. Chicago Community Builders Collective (“CCBC”), a minority-led construction partnership, will lead the new construction. The casino is set to open in late 2026. The addition of the shuttles revived long-held concerns about local casinos targeting communities with a history of problem gambling. Since then, Bally’s has added two additional shuttle bus routes in Uptown’s Asia on Argyle district, to and from Cafe Hoang and Furama Restaurant, according to the casino’s site.
